A new network of medical centers focused on Latin population opens in Connecticut
With the opening of a network of medical centers in Connecticut, CliniSanitas has given an important step towards its vision of expanding access to high-quality health services. Since 28 November, CliniSanitas will open three locations in Newington, Bridgeport and Orange. The centers will offer general and specialized medical consultation, priority consultation, laboratory and diagnostic images service, as well as, health education programs. These three new locations will offer wide attention schedule available also during weekends and backed by a bilingual team.
This expansion is the result of a strategic alliance between GuideWell Sanitas and ConnectiCare in order to satisfy health needs among the growing Hispanic population of Connecticut and reduce the existing health disparities. In this sense, CliniSanitas medical centers will attend ConnectiCare patients, individuals, and those users with traditional Medicare coverage.
Sanitas International has more than 35 years of experience in the health sector and manages more than 200 medical facilities in Latin America. The first opening of a CliniSanitas medical center in the United States took place in Florida in 2015. Its model is based on the provision of access to primary health care services, improving population’s health status and fostering a strong and durable physician-patient relationship (allowing physicians to dedicate more time to their patients) through a wide variety of services so that patients can resolve most of their needs in one place and a bilingual and culturally sensitive experience which involves the medical team and supporting staff, as well as, educational materials, patients’ website and wellness and disease management programs.
‘We are excited to bring our health model to Connecticut in partnership with ConnectiCare and GuideWell, a model that has already been successful in Miami (Florida) and which has positively impacted in the health of Latin America’, explained Fernando Fonseca, President and CEO of CliniSanitas. ‘We consider that through primary care we can handle many of our patients' different health needs. That is the reason that explains our integral and personalized approach, with a medical team that knows the patient, speaks his/her language, guides and cares for the patient throughout his/her life’, he added.
‘CliniSanitas medical centers help us to accomplish our company’s commitment by making easier that our users will receive the care they need. ConnectiCare is pleased to help the population of Connecticut to have high-quality and culturally relevant healthcare access at CliniSanitas medical centers’, said Michael Wise, President and CEO of ConnectiCare.
‘After the successful opening of CliniSanitas medical centers in Florida, we are seeking to provide our health solution in other geographic areas of the country, managing the health needs of multicultural populations and reducing the existing health disparities’, explained Prakash Patel, MD, Executive Director of Operations. ‘ConnectiCare has a deep knowledge of the health needs of this state and, thanks to this partnership, we will be able to offer the communities of Orange, Newington and Bridgeport a unique health and wellness experience’, he concluded.
